BJ & Jamie: Pokemon Go Craze (Audio)

July 12, 2016

Pokemon Go is sweeping the nation.  The game was released on July 5th, and already has millions of players; by Sunday, July 8th, Pokemon Go was reaching Twitter in terms of daily users.  It is what is known as augmented reality, and places pokemon in different places around you that you can only view and catch through the camera on your phone.  It includes creatures from the popular Gameboy games of the 1990's.  The type of creatures you find depend on where you are, and what time of day or night it is.  Police are noticing strange behavior and are having a hard time believing that strangers gathered in a group late at night are just searching for Pokemon.  There have been issues, as kids are staring at their phones and just walk out into the street.  A man also wandered into a woman's back yard late at night searching for a Pokemon.  While one girl was searching for a Pokemon, she stumbled upon a dead body.
