According to a new study, "baby brain" is absolutely real. Pregnancy can have all sorts of strange effects on the body, from morning sickness to a heightened sense of smell. Now, researchers have found that pregnancy brain is a significant and measurable phenomenon, confirming what pregnant women reporting lower levels of cognitive function have thought all along. Scientists at Deakin University, in Australia, carried out 20 different studies on the relationship between pregnancy and cognitive function. The studies incorporated 709 pregnant women and 521 non-pregnant women. The team found that overall, cognitive functioning and memory were worse among pregnant women.
