In any job atmosphere it is pretty clear that the man or woman at top of the food chain can make or break the company. They hold the power to make it the best job ever or an absolute living nightmare. But new research shows having an unsupportive manager can actually be good for you. Workers whose bosses held their hands through difficult times were more likely to be unhappy than those who were left to sort out their problems themselves. The research found emotionally exhausted workers were happier and recovered from their problems more quickly if they were forced to come up with their own action plan. This effect increased if they had to actively search to find support, such as from other coworkers, friends, family or independent advice.

Have you ever had an absolutely awful boss? What kind of stuff did they do?
