Here's today's OPP:

Yi! My son wanted me and my ex to take him out for his 7th birthday. When my ex got to our house, he agreed to drive all of us to dinner. We got in the car and about a block from our house he took a beer out of the center console and opened it in the car. His drinking was a major issue in our relationship and played a part in our divorce. Needless to say, I was not happy about the situation. I didn't say anything at the time because I didn't want to cause a huge fight and ruin my son's dinner. I watched him and he didn't drink anymore at dinner but I was still upset. When we got home I told my son he was to call the police if he ever saw an adult drinking and driving and he asked why I didn't call when his dad did it earlier. I really didn't know how to answer. Now I'm worried I didn't handle the situation right and my son won't take it as seriously as he should. I'm thinking of getting him a phone just to carry when he's at his dad's so he can call the police if his dad does something I don't approve of. Would that be okay? How else do I handle the situation?

What advice would you give Kim?
