Today’s OPP is from Lyndee and she needs your help! Here’s what she said:

Yi Slacker & Steve,

My kids have been begging for years for us to get them a puppy. My daughter has been researching on the internet and has even picked out puppies that she likes. It’s all they have been talking about this year. My husband wants to surprise them with one this Christmas but I hate the idea. My husband grew up with dogs and says every kid should have one but here’s my issue: my daughter is 12 and my son is 8. They are too old now. If we get a puppy it will live for 10-15 years and I will be stuck taking care of it and dealing with the end of its life after the kids leave. I know people will say just adopt an older dog, but I really don’t think you can trust a dog that hasn’t been raised in your house. The last thing I want to do is bring in a dog that snaps and bites one of my kids in the face. How do I convince my husband that it’s not a good idea to get our kids a dog for Christmas?

What advice do you have for Lyndee?
